Cross Training Questions

About the Greyhound Bus, post your experience and help me with some other questions if you can.?

I'm going on a 2 day trip to Big Rapids, MI from Miami, FL. 2 days getting there, and 2 days getting back. I've read around but couldn't quite get my question answered. First off, I know we can only bring 2 carry-on's in the bus. Thats all I'm going to bring, but about how big of a luggage case can I fit on top of my seat (dimension wise). The other carry-on will be my book bag. Also, in case my bus is late to a terminal and I missed my connecting bus, what can I do? I know about how bad the people can be on the bus and smell so I'm sort of ready for that since I use to take the train/bus/walk around Downtown where there are bums, crack heads, cross dressers, prostitutes everywhere. And I don't mind the long distance boredom. I'm going on a 2 day trip to Big Rapids, MI from Miami, FL. 2 days getting there, and 2 days getting back. 1. I was on a 2 day greyhound trip once and I'll never forget it. OMG did that suck! First off, wear well ventilated shoes and bring lots of extra socks and a change of underwear. I know this seems like common sense, but I didn't and damned didn't I regret it. Don't miss your connecting bus. It could be a very long wait until another one comes around. There are a lot of smelly ppl on the bus but there are very interesting ppl too. At least that was my experience.
  2. xD in case you are late and miss your connecting bus?! xD that is very likely to happen!!! i just finished a vacation where i rode around on a greyhound. besides being surrounded by gangsters, murderers, crazies(like you mentioned), etc...i also enjoyed: *getting my thumb sliced open on a razorblade *getting smacked in the face by a meth addict *having every bus be late *the windows broken *bus held together with ducktape *door off hinges *windshiled wipers not working *bus over heating ... and MUCH MUCH MORE... the most exciting part??? when our bus came in late and although the connecting bus was still there, loading, the idiots at greyhound OVERBOOKED!!!by like 30 people!!! i had the wonderful opprotunity to sleep on some newspapers for 12 hours and wake up to people tripping over me with their luggage/stepping on me=] what a pleasant way to travel. oh! i also escaped some crazy guy trying to kidnap me or something while i was in the station!!!0__0 and the greatest part is when your connecting bus is 5 hours late and you get to sit in line and guard your luggage and place in line. In the meantime, you can observe the greyhound posters with, for example, a cup of warm, tasty coffee, or even the one with a grandfather and his grandson wearing fancy, tailored suits and stating something along the lines, "we travel simple, we travel classic, we travel greyhound" and then you get the wakeup call that "something ain't right" once the realization that the two guys chatting behind you are actually chatting to themselves...as in...they're speaking to themselves -- not eachother! and when you finally get on the mysitcal ducktaped bus, you get to sit next to a crying baby the entire time^^ well, have fun on your trip! hope it goes better than mine... too bad my greyhound experience just gets worst...and worst... and worst=D
  3. I'm not sure about the luggage but just a survivor tip - do not get off the bus in atlanta if you don't have to. The station is in a very bad part of town and unsafe. Jacksonville is the same way. If you have to get off for transfer etc, watch your back very closely. Also be prepared for someone to try to sell you ANYTHING and all of it is fake/ stolen. Next time fly!
