It might be argued by some that 666 must be applied to one man's name, and that this will then help identify him as the antichrist. I would offer the following verse to show that 666 need not apply solely to a man's name: Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. The same Greek word translated as name (onoma: G3686) that appears in Revelation 13:17-18 is also used in chapter 19:16, so clearly the word can also apply to a title, and not just one man's name. Now, we are told that it takes a certain understanding and wisdom to discern just how this number is actually applied. Based on the fact that 666 can apply to a title, below are several words and phrases that have been put forth over the centuries as probable solutions to the enigma of 666. Catholics, like other xtians, believe "God is All-knowing". But practice that He is too stupid to know what He is creating and how it will be in the future. Go figure. For instance:
Catholic or not..anybody can take any number or theory...twist it turn it and make it seem exactly what they want it to be!!! 666 is NOT the number of the beast...its what the author of the passage wants you to believe!! Don't you have anything else to do??
I am not "moved" by things such as this... That number comes up as pages in books, numbers on credit cards, checks, license plates, etc.... It only affects you, if you let it, and if you are a person that believes in superstition, and witchcraft, etc....
Interesting but irrelevant. 666 probably referred to Nero or Domitian or some other Roman Emperor who persecuted Christians. Also, remember that 6 is one short of 7, the number of perfection: 666 could be seen as "the epitome of created inadequacy", "an evil trinity which always falls short of the Holy Trinity (777)". Besides, how could the Catholic Church be the Antichrist when it (and the Orthodox Churches) has preserved the sacraments and the Scriptures through apostolic succession? Christ said that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church, after all.
THE HUMAN GOVT is called by the Prophets of old as the government of the BEAST. Thus, that is the beast as the human govt is ruled by a devil called satan. The 666 is the number of beast -a human govt in the endtime that has the power over all the earth and is ruled by the devil who incarnated as the fake-Christ. In the endtime, the fake-Christ will attempt to take over Jerusalem and declare himself as the true MessIah. But his 66.6 million soldiers advance lead by him will be slowed down and they will bivouac instead at the City of Ashdod at the shore of Mediterranean sea. It is so there are two forces of threats that his own force will be facing. They are the 200 million soldiers from the east and at the same time bivouac at the Megiddo valley; while the 20 million soldiers that will be led by the 144,000 kings/ commanders of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST have gone faster and ahead to Jerusalem and had provided the perimeter force against the fake-Christ coming. Those who are professional soldiers understand these tactical postions of three (3) forces which show them in battle formation. Of course, the fake Christ will be beaten by the 200 million soldiers from the east in the Battle of Armageddon at the next dawn but by the will of GOD. Then at 2nd dawn the 200 million soldiers will surround Jerusalem and to attack but at that poiint THE LORD JESUS CHRIST-THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS will appear in heaven with the soldiers from heaven and all the 200 million soldiers from the east will be melted on their toes. Then the LORD JESUS CHRIST and HIS prophets and saints after the wrath of GOD pulverizing all man-made on the surface of the Earth by fire from heaven brimstones, meteors, volcanoes, earthquake and floods after 24 hours will descend to earth with THE LORD JESUS CHRIST feet on the Mt of Olives that faces Jerusalem from the east. It's NOT a waste of time to study the Word of God. The Book of Revelation is the hardest book to understand in the whole Bible. There are more than a couple of interpretations of 666 and the anti-Christ. It's difficult to prove which is right, but it IS a significant question, which will affect all of us during the end-times that are prophesied. I don't know who the anti-Christ will be, but I do agree that the Catholic church teaches some things that contradict the Bible. (but so do some Protestant churches) The problem with the Catholic church is that they believe in a secondary "holy" book besides the Bible. It's called the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" and it's full of teachings that contradict the Word of God. There's a book which can explain some of the false teachings of the Catholic church, and it's called, "Reasoning from the Scriptures with Catholics" by Ron Rhodes. It can probably be found on Amazon.com.
