Cross Training Questions

Swimming for cross country training?

My coach told me to run 15-30 minutes during the summer for cross country training...but I want to do something besides just running (like swimming). How much would I have to swim to excercise my legs as much as running and what should I do while swimming? I don't have a very large pool and it is oddly shaped so laps would not be very helpful. Thank you.

  1. hello we r in like the same boat, i run for cross country practise in the summer but i also fit some swimming in! I try to do diffrent types of strokes and swimming exersises, normal, underwater, back stroke, just legs. be creative and get your exersise!
  2. swimming would be a good idea but judging your situation you should try aqua jogging it'd be easier for you to do in your pool and give you more of a workout. its pretty much running in the water but its more difficult than it sounds...you should start off with a life jacket and once that becomes too easy try without it.
