Cross Training Questions

Why do my toes and feet go numb when I do any cardio?

Whenever I do any kind of cardio, expecially the elliptical trainer, my toes and feet go numb and hurt. I have tried several different shoes (wide, tight, running, cross-trainers) and nothing seems to help. Does this happen to anyone else, and/or does anyone know why this is happening? I haven't gone to my doc, but I will as it is really starting to concern me.

  1. I have no idea, but it does sound very concerning. I would call the Dr's office right away and see if first you can speak with his nurse to see if it is something serious you should see him for and if you should make an appt. right away. Good luck!
  2. Yes this happens to me, especially on the elliptical as well. I avoid the elipptical pretty much and stick to running or biking. I have less problems with these things. I think it may have to do with exerting force on a certain part of your feet when you use the ellliptical. I get this with running too every once in awhile but its not nearly as bad
  3. Do you have the numbness in your toes other times as well? If so it might be an indication of lower back trouble . . . if possible might be good to talk to a dr.
  4. It is common, as Blueberry noted. Stop every ten minutes and stretch your feet, or reverse movement so force is on a different parts of your feet.
