- no i hadn't heard of those laws.
- In New York theres one with the No Showing Your Boxers( you know when the guys REALLY need to pull up their pants) I have heard of a few of those though... they are pretty stupid....
- yes. http://www.dumblaws.com/ some of them did have a basis in reality, though. Like the "X-rays may not be used to fit shoes." Years and years ago, much before the effects of x-rays were really well known and understood, may shoe shops featured 'foot x-ray machines' where the shoe buyer could stand, and insert their feet for an instant 'x-ray' analysis of their feet. They would put their feet in this box thing, and their feet would be subjected to x-rays. The buyer would stand and look down at his or her feet in a viewing pane to see the screen. The problem with this is that the x-rays were being directed up thru their feet, to the screen below their face and then into their head. It is unknown the numbers of people where were seriously overdosed with X-rays and the cancers they got. Here in Arizona, "hunting camels is prohibited." This law is in effect because at one time the United States Army attempted to use camels in tests here in the desert. The remaining camels were set free, and are now protected. Here in Arizona, donkeys cannot SLEEP in bath tubs. Here in Arizona, it is unlawful to refuse a person a glass of water. "n the summer-time, with temperatures reaching topping 120 degrees, often people will need water, but may not have the money to pay for it (mainly applies to homeless). Hence, the law. It is very much in effect today, with businesses being reported (and heavily fined) who refuse to supply water to those who ask for it. Convenience stores are the primary businesses who uphold this law." In Prescott, Arizona: No one is permitted to ride their horse up the stairs of the county court house. In Tombstone, near where I live: It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling. Women may not wear pants in Tucson, AZ. In Globe, AZ: Cards may not be played in the street with a Native American. In Mojave County, AZ: A decree declares that anyone caught stealing soap must wash himself with it until it is all used up.
- Some sound really silly and others impossible.
- I looked through a book that was making fun of all the dumb and whacky laws in the U.S. It was divided by State, and there were definitely some strange ones.
- actually, the one about using x-rays to fit shoes was valid. not long after x-rays were invented shoe stores did use them to fit shoes without knowing the danger.
- In Florida, it is illegal to take a shower naked. Also it is illegal to have sex with a porcupine. I wonder why that law came to being ? In Alabama, it is illegal to put and ice cream cone in your back pocket on Sunday. Also it is illegal to drive while blidfolded.
