Cross Training Questions

Elliptical cross trainer?

I have bought a Elliptical magnetic cross trainer second hand,it came with no instructions,i have a physical job but would consider myself unfit. How is the best way to start using the trainer, what sort of program should i be doing, how many times a week should i be looking at training and for how long? Any help would be appreciated to get me fit for 3weeks on the beach in Cornwall. Thanks Andrew.

  1. My leaflet says for the first time you should only start off with 5 mins at a time a few times a week. But i felt this wasn't pushing me enough so I just made sure I did some stretches before hand and do 30mins every other day.
  2. 30 minutes of cardio a day is recommended. I'd start with that, or more if you prefer. Depending on what you have time for, I'd say at least 2-3 times a week. There are probably different programs you can use - calorie burner, fat burner...etc. Use which one you want, but in reality, you can try all of them and see which one you like most - all of them will burn calories and fat and so forth. Play around with it and see what you like. If you have any real questions look online on the maker's website or see if you can fine a number to call and ask questions (the website will have a number). They will probably be able to send you a manuel as well if you wanted.
  3. Do you have an Ipod, or a mp3 player that plays mp4 music? I just got an Ipod and my favorite cardio equipment is the elipical as well, I was listening to Howard Stern and Ipodfitness.com was advertising on there. When I check there website they have about 70 personal trainers that will train you through your Ipod (prerecorded routine) all you have is put in your weight, and your health experience, and the intensity you would like (and choice that you want an eliptical routine) and it will progress as you progress. I just started this ipodfitness.com training program, all it does is to tell you what you need to do and pushes you to work harder, and you can input the music that you want in the background. The price is pretty high (for me at least) $20 a month, but I feel it works like it suppose to do! I KNOW THIS REALLY DOES SOUND LIKE I AM WORKING FOR PODFITNESS, I do not. But if you have any question about it email.
