Cross Training Questions

Why do women wear socks over pantyhose with sneakers on the way to work?

Obliviously I understand the cross trainers, I'm sure there way more comfortable than heels. But why the socks? Why not just put on the shoes, nobody wears socks with heels why with the sneakers? I know stupid question, I'm just curios.

  1. b/c its comfortable...they obviously take off the socks and sneakers at work and change into other shoes...
  2. Socks provide extra cushioning to prevent me from getting blisters. =]
  3. its because their legs are cold so they put on stockings and just use the socks as usual. the stockings don't help much when it comes to putting feet in sneakers
  4. Because they are more comfortable that way, and it protects the stockings from runs because the sneakers slide around on your stocking feet because they are thinner and slipperier than socks. I wear socks over my stockings with boots for the same reason, and because they keep my feet warm when it's cold outside.
  5. because some people are very very stange. a little like how they ask questions like this! lol o/jokin xx
  6. Nylon allows the foot to breath but doesn't collect moisture. Cotton socks adsorb moisture from perspiration. Without cotton socks the moisture at the foot would eventually cause foot odors and moisture on the foot during extended walking periods leads to blisters. However, moisture in the shoe from the cotton sock results in stinky shoes. As a backpacker, it's important to wear three levels of socks: - The first level, closest to the foot, is a nylon sock. This sock allows the foot to breath and sweat. - The second level is a cotton sock. The cotton sock collects the sweat. This cuts down on foot odors. - The third level is a wool sock. The wool sock separates the foot and moist cotton sock from the boot which helps to reduces blisters and to maintain warmth. Most importantly, layering socks provides a level of comfort. The preventatives measures that I just discussed are not always realized.
  7. Pantyhose are much thinner and slicker than socks. If you were just to wear the hose, the sneakers wouldn't fit properly.
  8. The socks provide extra cushioning to make the shoes fit better and more comfortably. They also help keep the pantyhose from getting "runs" - a lot of sneakers would rub through in the back and ruin the stocking if worn alone with them. I've done it before, but I do try to at least wear anklet socks, no knee socks, so it doesn't look so odd. Most women who do this change into heels at the office, so it's not like they're wearing the socks/sneakers all day.
  9. to prevent runs
  10. Extra cushion!! Also prevents runs in the hose!
