Cross Training Questions

I want to loose at least 2 stone as fast as possible, help?

Hey. I'm a 13 year old girl (very mature looking and acting for my age) and weight about 11 1/2 stone. I'm 5"6 and am a UK size 12. I am 'chubby'. I have really low self esteem and am sick of being this way. I want to loose about 2 stone (if possible more) as soon as possible. My ideal weight would be just under 9 stone. My parents have an excercise machine (cross trainer thing/ skiiing/ treadmillish?). I ran 10 miles on that every day for a week a few months back before getting sick and quitting. I need lost of help guys, please don't tell me about health risks and putting the weight back on and how i'm too young. Trust me i know exactly what i'm doing. I plan to drink alot more waterr also. How much should i exersize daily? How many calories should i try to take in? JUST GENERAL HELP PLEASE? p.s. i eat just as much and the same quantities as all my friends who are skinny, i also excersise the same. its really unfairrr.

  1. see a doctor
  2. I don't really understand what "stones" are. Can you explain? I think you just need to go out and move more. Play volleyball with some friends, dance, etc. You'll lose any extra weight.
  3. I could do with losing a couple of stones myself so will be looking at your answers with interest. Best of luck.
  4. The best way is to join weight watchers, you could loose 2 stone in about 1.5 months - its really easy to follow. Don't yoyo diet, I did and it's a nightmare when you get older. Seriously weight watchers really works. good luck
  5. youll grow out of it. i was cubby till about 13/14, now im 6'2 but i weigh less than 10 stone. 9 stone 11 this morning actually. so you could just eat less and wait. however there are very dangerous ways to loose weight, such as starving yourself completely. Apparently if you eat nothing for a month youll loose 20lbs. But the risks involved really arent worth it. You could search diets available. I hear theres a very successful one (though i forget the name) involving red days, green days etc and on each colour you can eat any amount of food X but no Y. Supposed to work wonders.
  6. Well first of all dont compare yourself to your friends that are skinny and stuff because youre all different and your body works different...I know it sucks!I mean my two best friends they eat like PIGS like chocolate sweets junk food soda everything like every hour but they are sooooooooo skinny! And i even eat less than them and what I'm like 40 pounds heavier ! Anyway [I'm 13 years old too so dont say nothin =P] I dont think exercising DAILY is healthy for some reason..i think youre working your body too hard and since youre pushing it too hard its going on survival mode meaning its saving as much fat as possible for energy...isnt that fucked up or what?lol anyway i recommened probably 3-4 times a week of exercising and it should really help using variety for exercises...for me its usually swimming cuz i love it n you dont sweat and its the same exercise as biking and jogging i guess...plus its fun.. and it shouldnt really matter how much calories youre gonna eat cuz since youre exercising so youre using the food as an energy source...and i think being a girl helps to the fact that its harder for us to lose weight [!!!!!!well doesnt that suck]especially in the thigh area[!!!!!! sucks even more]...anyway from the ideal body weight calculator it says youre just in the risk of becoming overweight so you shouldnt be worried too much at least youre not obese "A 13 year old (female) child who is 160 pounds and is 5 feet and 6 inches tall has a body mass index of 25.9, which is at the 94th percentile, and would indicate that youre at risk of becoming overweight." So maybe the fat in your body is just distibuted differently than youre friends so it may seem like youre ""chubby" or what not.I mean some people gain fat in their boobs their butt their thighs their belly their arms anywhere! Anyway I just want to emphasize that you shouldnt compare yourself to your friends ok? Because everyone's body works different and plus youre a teenager...your body acts weird around these ages so maybe wen ur older your just gonna shed all those extra pounds...and dont starve yourself cuz thats just slow suicide...and if you have a low self esteem then talk to your parents or your mom or someone to talk about how youre feeling about this and its also great for someone there to be with you...and if you think you cud take the time n ask youre friends how they do it then mite as well...but if theyre wrong dont try it...geee i sound old..lol..i realllllllyyyy should take my own advices...but oh well...good luck! Oh and I think exercising too much is the reason why your getting sick...so dont try and kill yourself with this cuz just remember that looks arent everything and its the inside that counts...but in this industry its the pressure of being thin is whats causing all these messed up lives so i understand where youre going at....[Damn i sound old!lol] Oh well I hope this helps..
  7. When I was 13 I was a size 12......then I got to 16 and it fell off - I went down to size 10. Size 12 is not chubby and being 13 you are meant to have a bit of meat on you its natural you are still growing. Don't diet, just gentle exercise should be enough (P.E Lessons should be fine) then just don't eat bad stuff like crisps and choccie etc etc. I would put money on it that you are beautiful and fine as you are, and I know it is difficult to get into your head because I am exactly the same now. Get out of thinking you are chubby and start thinking that size 12 is absolutley fine. Beacuse it is!!!!!!!!! Don't diet & don't go crazy - your P.E lessons should be sufficient and just don't eat the naughty stuff, that is a healthy lifestyle.
  8. Hi ya, I'm a fitness instructor currently training to be a personal trainer and nutrition advisor. My advice would be first of to keep exercising regulary doing at least 30mins of cardio 3 times a week. Obviously the more you do the more you'll burn. Try aiming for 250 calories burnt per session at least. Your diet if it's the same as your friends doesn't mean it's a good diet! The average person only needs 30% of fat in their diet, however the average UK person is taking in around 45% thats why we have an obesity problem. Write down a food diary of what you eat and drink in a week, then reflect on it yourself on whats good and bad food choices and then change for healthy alternatives. Cut junk food out of your diet, and only have it on rare occassions. If you want to try a dietary plan the only one i would reccommend is the G.I. diet, books can be found at your local stores. Other diets that sell themselves on rapid weight loss usually just starve the body of much needed nutrients your body needs on a daily basis, so your body goes into starvation mode and ends up storing more food. So any weight you lose you'll end putting back on just as quickly as you lose it. Most people have too large portions sizes for their meals, try and half smaller portions for meal times. It's better to have 5-6 small meals a day then 3 large ones. Don't feel bad for leaving food on your plate. Also eat slower, it takes 10 mins for your stomach to tell your brain that it's full, so don't eat past comfortable. If you feel hungry when you feel you shouldn't be, it's probabley dehydration, try having a glass of water. You can do that before meals as well that will lessen your appetite. If you aim to take 250 calories out of your dietary intake and burn off 250 calories through exercise, then that'll be 500 calories a day, so you would be looking at loosing 1-2 lbs a week. To loose weight it usually takes as long as it took to get there. So if it took you 3 months to put on 1/2 stone it'll take 3 months to burn it off. However that can be acheived quicker depending on intensity, frequency and duration of your workouts. Healthy eating and exercise is not just for losing weight, it's got to be a regular thing. Too reach your goals you've got to make it routine. It's a lifestyle. When you start getting bored of your cross trainer, mix it up with fast walking, jogging or skipping. Also fitness dvds are available in local stores. And most gyms have fitness times for teenagers to use their facilties. I hope this helps, please feel free to ask questions! God Bless!
  9. I was pretty chubby til I was about 18, then it all fell off (puppy fat!) I wouldn't worry too much about it.... If you're really worried, the ULTIMATE fat burning exersice is the step master... find a step, put your iPod on and step up and down for about 20 - 25 mins... the higher the step the harder and more fat you'll burn!
  10. I'm not sure what the medics think, but I lost 2 stones and 8 pounds on the "Atkins" diet over four years ago, and have stayed at the same weight ever since. I followed the diet to the letter. No carbs whatsoever for the first six weeks, then gradually introduce them over the next four to six weeks. My only problem was my saggy belly which I had to do some serious crunches to tighten up. If you are going to try this diet, you will need to get the "Atkins" book to ensure that you are following it correctly. It's fairly simple. No potatoes, bread, pasta, beer!,sauces or flour based stuff. You can have as much chicken, bacon, any meat, cheese and low cal fizzy drinks as you like.Fish is also a good thing. When you have reached your target weight, you can start to enjoy any foods without putting any significant weight on. Good luck.
  11. To successfully lose weight, you must carry out a plan to balance your caloric intake with exercise. Ideally, dieting should be done by eating a nutritionally balanced, low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity. I found useful informations at http://imfit4life.com
