Cross Training Questions

Which burns more calories, a stepper or cross trainer?

I find the stepper gets me more breathless than the cross trainer...Does this mean the stepper is buring off MORE caories than the cross trainer?

  1. i think that would mean the stepper is burning more, i think. usually the more out of breath and sweaty you get indicates your body having to work harder therefor burning more calories :)
  2. try running its a lot cheaper and burns more cal.
  3. stepper probably burns more also try running ..
  4. On the stepper and cross trainer there should be a button which tells you how many calories per minute you are burning. Just because you are more out of breath it does not mean that you are burning more calories. It simply means that the exercisemakes your heart and cardiovascular system work harder. For example, people who are marathon runners may burn more calories when they running, but may find rowing harder as they are not used to it. It is important to use many different pieces of cardiovascular equipment to give your body a good all round workout. It tend to do blocks of 10 - 15 minutes on the stepper, cross trainer, treadmill, bike, arm bike and rower, usually 60 - 90 minutes 5 times a week. I do these shorter training sessions at quite a high intensity 3 times per week and twice a week I choose a piece of equipment and use it for longer 30 - 45 minutes, to improve my stamina and endurance.
