Will using a cross trainer cause me to get thunder thighs??
i am a girl of 14 and my family are thinking of getting a cross trainer. if i used it would it give me thunder thighs and large shoulders or will it be alright if it does what other machines, or exercises can i do to make my stomach flatter (i am not fat) and my body more toned. i am not trying to lose weight (my bmi is 15.6 which means im underweight) just trying to tone my figure and do more exercise. i dont have any eating disorders. thanks

- wow, if your bmi is 15.6 you should really consider putting on weight! 18-25 is the recommended so im sure 15.6 can be too healthy. however in moderate use the cross trainer will only tone your body, the people you see on tv who use it do a lot of weights etc, and are payed to use it for the commercial so it is not a direct result of them using the machine. a better way to tone muscles would be to use light weights, say 1kg? and do many regular exercises with them to tone arms such as lifting them to chest then down. similarly u can do standing squats, with no weight say 30 times a day to tone your thighs whilst not turning into stallone! as i always say skipping is excellent to tone muscles to, boxers use this heavily to tone thereselfs and get into good shape.
- actually... i work in a gym and a cross trainer is one of the best machines to lose weight from. its basically a fat burning machine so i dont know what that guy above is saying... if u want to tone do weights or try sit ups
- cross trainers and the like are great for toning. Just make sure you're doing many repititions of less weight, this tones the muscles more. You will bulk up if you do only a few repititions of a lot of weight.
