Cross Training Questions

I have just got myself a cross trainer ...?

i want to lose weight, as over christmas i put on a few pounds. ive always had those few extra pounds ive wanted to shift but couldnt, i eat fairly healthily with the occasional treat, but i want to know, if i use a cross trainer 5 times a week for an hour or so, along with eating sensibly, would i actually shift the weight ive had lingering for about 5 years? ive tried exercise dvds and after a month of a different dvd each night, 5 nights a week i didnt see much change to my body. i looked a little more toned but didnt lose much weight. my belly was and still is there along with my chunky thighs and bingo wings! if anyone else has had success on a cross trainer id appreciate your comments. thanks thanks for the "normal" answers :-)

  1. wouldnt a happy trainer be better for you?
  2. You would be better with a nice friendly trainer rather than a cross one. His bad mood will affect your training programme. Chunky thighs and bingo wings sounds like something from the new KFC menu!
  3. cross trainers are excellent use it enough you will see improvements good luck
  4. Yes cross trainers are excellent, but try to vary your excesses after a few weeks of every night you'll soon get bored, maybe do three nights of cross trainer, 1 swimming and maybe an aerobics class or a jog. The main reason people fail at losing weight is because the exercise becomes repetitive.
  5. The most important thing with exercising is to find something you really enjoy, or can put up with a few times a week. its an old saying but its really true. its no good having all the equipment in the world or memberships if you havent the desire. Yes the crosstrainer will help you lose weight, i personally never used them until few months back and they are a good work out, however dont suit everyone. i prefer being outside running in the fresh air, but thats not everyone. An hour seems a long time you may become bored. maybe not, but i would mix it up try various exercises including the crosstrainer, so maybe do half an hour then 30mins of weights and situps, or 15mins and get back on crosstrainer. Remember if you just train for the sake of it, its hard to keep up after a couple of weeks so set yourself an acheiveable goal of 30mins with a mixture like i said. You should see the results if you are eating correclty in around a couple of weeks if your training everyday.
  6. cross trainers can be a good excercise tool. Just be sure to use it and work up the levels
  7. They are really good, I wouldn't get one from argos but it shows what they do well. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/BuyingGuide/bgTrail/cross_trainers1_00038.htm
