How can I be the fastest runner?
I do cross country (which is coming up) and track. I want a workout plan that won't produce injuries and also will improve my speed, stride, and muscle. I also was wondering how much stretching would be good for each day? What should I eat? Should I cross train, and if so what days would work? Anything you know that can make me fast, would be appriciated. Also if anyone could provide a workout plan that can make me reach my goal of being the fastest would be nice.

- try running with ankle weights (start very light)...warm up 10 mins. before u stretch...never stretch a cold muscle. eat things that will give u energy like pasta, brown rice, veggies, and maybe some baked chicken. just don't over do ur work-out...maybe an hour 4 days a week
- I think with the appropriate training this could be possible. If you do lots of running and sprint work this could help make you faster. Lifting weights will increase speed and power at the same time. Plyometric work will also increase power. If you do a stick drill placing sticks a stride a part than sprint in between them this will lengthen your stride. One major key is DETERMINATION. Good luck!
- I run track for my high school team. I am the fastest one out there, but not because i trained harder or i ate less. I went out there and gave it my best. It's something I'm good at. What you really need to do is work with hurdles a lot. But don't push yourself. Try running a mile a day...sit ups...push ups...and a lot of leg exercise. Like jump rope. Even if you are not the fastest out there, you still are helping out the team by trying hard. Exercise...but not for the wrong reasons. You're just going to have to deal with what you are capable of. Be carefull out there, and no matter what your coach says...always bring water, powerade, gatorade ect. to practice and make sure you have some during practice. I didn't one day, and it almost changed my whole view of track.
- Eat whatever just excersize! I prefer to just do sprints everyday except 4 the day b4 the run do a slow mie JOG
- sorry, but you ask far too many questions. There are several running magazines (eg runners world) and online runners resources that regularly include training plans for different events.
