Cross Training Questions

Okay Cross Country runner turned slow?

I am cross country runner and in 10 grade. I ran all of track season and after. Then I ran all summer and i went to mammoth for extra training for a week. By the end of the summer, I ran 569 miles I was okay runner with a 18-12 for the three miles. Now for some reasons, everytime i do a workout iget tired or i am sore. My ankles started to bug me alot. Am I just overwork, tired, injured, or is nothing?

  1. I think you should take some rest, you are probably overworked. Go see a physical therapist he can help.
  2. It sounds like you are over trained. A good sign is to check your heart rate when you get up in the morning. You should have a low rate and if it starts to rise you are getting too much work. You need to take off for a week or 2. You can do some low impact, like biking, but go easy do not stress yourself. I always recommend runners to take a 2 week active rest period after each season. The ankle injury is another concern that should benefit from resting.
  3. I have to agre with the others. You should take a week or two off. I still would suggest that you so some light jogging every other day. if you just stop all together for that time your body could react wrong.
  4. well man looks like uve been over worked u no take like 3 days off running but u no go out and walk in the afternoon
