Cross Training Questions

Does it mean your hired when the people you had interview with, scheduled you for cross training?

I went to a job interview last October 12, It was a Doctor's office. I had an interview with the Doctor that lasted for about 30 minutes, after a few more minutes the Doctor called her office manager for a second interview. After chatting with both of them, they looked at each other and "nod" at each other and said "yes." The office manager gave me a tour of the office and scheduled me for a "cross train" for Friday the 19. We shook hands then say goodbye. Everything went by so fast that I'm not even sure if I'm hired. The doctor and the manager ask me how much I want to get paid. I told them it's negotiable and I am more after the experience. I am scheduled on OCt 19 for cross train from 9:30- 11:30. I'm still employed with my other job and my resignation won't be effective for another 2 weeks. So silly of me not to ask questions when I was there. I got so overwhelmed by the good reaction they had with my interview that when I was scheduled for "cross train" I shook the office manager's hand, I said good-bye and left.

  1. You were hired. They would not schedule you for "cross" training because they are obligated to pay you. Did you talk salary, do you know how much you are getting paid and what time you are to report on Friday?
  2. It sounds like you are hired. If someone else also shows up on Friday, though, they may want to see who fits in with the environment better. Don't worry about it, though, you sound like you got the job.
  3. You are not employed till you have a contract signed in your hot little hand!! Do not leave your current job & go to work in any capacity for your new employer until you are very clear on your salary & terms of employment
  4. If not for the job you interviewed for, then for what other reason could they possibly have to crosstrain you. Logically thinking, you're hired. I hope so.
