I need some GOOD tips on running/jogging that could help me out with cross country and training!?
For All the runners out there ive started junior high cross country and i am a pretty good runner i just wanted ideas/tips 4 training. HELP!

- Sprint a quarter mile and time it. Then sprint a few miles trying to beat the time every quarter. (stop every quarter mile for a bit of a rest)
- That's a vague question. What specifically did you have in mind? I would be working on your endurance/milage at this point.
- try making a beat to go by, a steady on going beat. Like a four count rythm. it helps. if you watch military marches or drills, they have the left right left cadance. Try doing that with your jogging or running, sometimes you should experiment with looking only a few feet in front of you, just watching the road or ground as you move forward so you don't get anxiety over getting to the end point, or try looking as far ahead as you can, pick a point to reach and once you reach that point, like a mailbox, than set another point to get to like a neighbors sidewalk, and keep changing the points. it really helps motivate you to move forward, also keep a steady breathing going. I hyperventalated the first few times I ran, because I was focusing on my speed, when i should've been focusing on my breathing. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BREATH, enough to speak while running, but give you slight SLIGHT shortness of breath. it works, trust me.
- i run cross country and track for high school and in middle school and there are alot of suggestions and ideas out there that are good but the only thing that will actually make a noticeable improvement is this: run as much as you possibly can and keep running until you just cant run anymore. good luck and have fun!
- train with a group or partner if you can, the support really helps. get good shoes! listen to your coach, they know what they are doing. cross train with biking or swimming if you can. eat right - cut down on fast food and junk
