Cross-training plan?
I have patellofemoral syndrome, runner's knee, etc. I run indoor track (distance) and cross-train once a week. Any good plans for the gym as to which machines I should use to warm up and train/work out? Thanks

- I don't have your condition. What I do have is a nearly complete lack of cartilage in my left knee. So while you're looking for a way to be active while you recover, this is my normal life. I limit my running to 10 miles per week, although I will break that rule as I get closer to an event (I race in tri's). Because I compete in tri's I cross train between swimming, biking and running, with weights thrown in for strength training. I'll also throw in some elliptical workouts to allow some additional run-type activity. There is some info at http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/healthy/physical/injuries/479.html for you to look at. Another thing to consider is getting outside on a trail. The varied terrain changes the impact patterns in your stride, which will actually help you knees. It sounds your normal workout is on a consistently flat surface, and you're always turning the same direction. That kills me. Good luck.
