Anyone have any advice on the exercise machine called a cross trainer? Does anyone know anything good or bad about the cross trainer? Is it better than a nordic track gazelle or pro skier?
I want to tone up my bum, thighs and stomach, is a cross trainer the best fitness machine to get? I want something that will tone me everywhere, but most importantly my bum. Heard that a cross trainer is the best way to do that, i want a quick fix really. Im going on holiday in Sept and want to look better by then. I tried squats but cant really see any difference.
How to work Lifestyler System 50 cross trainer-electrical resistance? Our neighbors are moving and gave us one of those cross trainer workout machines. It has a digital display on a stand that plugs into the workout machine with what looks like a telephone type cable, but there is no battery compartment or AC plug in, so we cant change the resistance level. I was just curious if anyone else had one of these machines and knew how to give it power. It is on probably the least amount of resistance now and basically is useless. Thank You!

I go to the gym at least 4 times a week and do a combination of running, cross trainer, step machine and rower. I do an hour each time. I normally spend 20 mins on the rowing machine. When to use cross trainer/how long for/technique? Hi. I've just bought a cross trainer. I want to tone my stomach, thighs and bum. I'm just a little unsure of when to use it and how long for really. I'm finding it quite difficult to use at the minute as I'm quite unfit. When is the best time to use it? The morning or evening? Also, how long should I go on it for? I'd like to lose half a stone or so but I'd much prefer to tone up tbh. Also, I've heard that using the machine in reverse is good. Why it this? What is a cross trainer good for? What areas are they good at toning?

X trainer or running machine? ? When I run on the running machine at the gym it tells me that I have hardly used any calories, but when I go on the cross trainer it tells me I have used loads of calories. I know the machine calculators are only approximate, but the running machine seems like a lot harder work and I get out of breath more on it. Should I listen to the machine or my body?
How do you use a cross trainer? What buttons to press? Help please? Going to a gym next weekend, first time. Those machines look horrible and I don't want to overdo it first time. Haven't got a clue how they work and will look like a nerd. Please tell me how to switch them on and make them go slow first then a bit bit tiny bit faster - maybe? Thanks for help.
Is exercising on a Stationary bike a waste of time? I was listening to a radio talk show on the way into work this morning and they mentioned something about stationary bikes being useless. Obviously I know that there are exercises more beneficial and provide better results than the bike but i have bad knees and find that the bike doesnt put as much stress on my knees as a much as an eliptical or cross-trainer machine. So I am wondering if I have just been wasting my time or if the radio talk show host doesnt know what he is talking about.
Cardio mode on a eliciptal cross trainer Life Fitness 95XI? I normally workout on random mode but have tried the cardio mode where you enter age, weight, time, and heart rate. When I do this it works well until I get about 16 minutes into the workout and then the machine increase the resistance to max and I can not make it move fast enough so it goes into pause mode. I have now tried this on three different machines and they all do the same. Any idea on what I am doing wrong
Is the calorie counter on exercise machines e.g tredmill, bike , cross trainer etc. accurate The reason i am asking is because i'm trying to lose weight and whenever i go my brother keeps telling me there is no point becuase they are not accurate and your losing less than you think.E.g if it says you've lost 100 Kcals, its wrong, youve only lost 50 - 60. Is my brother right..are they accurate or not?

I have lordosis in my.Which elliptical cross trainer would help me most? Do I really need adjustable incline? Lordosis is inward curvature of the spine. The cross trainer puts no strain on the joints, but downward stepping would strain the lower back. I have only found one elliptical that adjusts so now I am wondering if this is really important or not. Before I invest money in one of these machines I need to be sure it will do no harm. Many thanks.
What is the best gym equipment for getting rid of love handles? I go to the gym 4 times a week now doing mostly weights as I want to build mass but my shape is seriously let down by love handles. I do a 5 min warm up and cool down and spend roughly 1 hour 15 in the gym. I use the treadmill, rowing machine, cross trainer and bike. Which of these is the best for ridding me of these horrible fatty bits? How long should I spend on a piece of kit?

Is there any way I can reduce my pulse on the cross trainer? I've been going to the gym for three weeks now and usually do 40mins of aerobic exercise. I usually do 20-30 on the bike and 20 or so on the rowing machine. I went straight from the bike to the cross trainer today and my pulse went upto 160bpm and I nearly puked. Should I maybe start on the cross trainer and then go to the other machines later? I usually don't have any problems with the bike or rower in relation to pulse or puking. I can add details if necessary I'm 37 yrs old. 5foot7 and 13 stone. I ate at 0815 (cereal with honey and a banana) in the gym by 09:15

Then i started going to the gym doing the cross trainer cardio machine and running/walking on the treadmille. I also changed my diet. which excercise machine is best for me? I have just joined the gym as I have Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome and struggle to keep weight off. I am 5 ft 5, age 29 and weigh about 11 stone. I am bulky around my middle (v flabby tummy) and need to tone up all over. I have been swimming twice a week. 3 times a week I go in the gym and do a 30 min work out on the treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine & bike, then do 20 repetitions on the weight machines which tone your legs and arms, then I do 30 sit ups using the ab roller thing. Im not too keen on the bike so prefer to stay on the cross trainer for longer if poss. Does this workout sound ok? Is there anything you would suggest to improve this? Any advice is gratefully recieved!
Cross trainer and excersise? i have a cross trainer and have been using it for my cardio for about a year now. My lifestyle is active, so I only use it a couple of times a week. It has many resistance levels, minutes HR monitor(not that accurate) and programs, ie: Weight loss(Up and down 1-2 increase in resistance thn back down again 1-2) Target Heart Rate zone Intervals(Warm up low resistance building up high resistance, low resistance, then high again. Manual(choose resistance then go out at for how many minutes you choose) Rolling(resistance goes up slowly and decrease slowly) Mountain(Increase resistance to max) Do you think my body has adapted to the excersise, The last few times I've been using it was the first times I did Interval program. I'm a bit overweight, that's why I'm doing this with a healthy diet of course, The diet isn't bring as much weight loss as I thought it would, i suppose i need to excersise more. Could this be a good machine for excersing to keep my body from adapting. Thanks
does anyone own or have used a york platinum x720 cross trainer? i am thinking of purchasing one. Is it a good machine. I want to tone my legs, arms, bum and tum.
I'm 20 years old and 11 stone, i want to lose weight, going to the gym later, how long on the cross trainer? How long should I do on the cross trainer? I love the cross trainer and normally do it for about 10 mins twice, then jogging for 5 on the treadmill. I go on the bikes for 5 mins to warm up and 5 mins after to warm down after a session so that I don't get so many aches and pains over the next few days. There's not much else in the gym I got to at the moment but I'm joining another gym soon aver the road from where I work, to go in my lunch hour so are there any other exercises that you could recommend. Also, I have this body glide thing at home, which is like a bike but gives the same sort of work out as a rowing machine, how long should i spend on there each day? Any other exercises or fitness equipment you could recommend? I want to lose at least half a stone by September, but all in all i want to lose a total of 2 stone to get to my ideal weight as I am 5'3"
I need to get healthy, whats the best way? Since the smoking ban in the uk I have stopped my 30 a day habit which is good. I have also greatly reduced my alcohol intake to only a few pints at the weekend. I have also started going to the gym. Since I started this healthier lifestyle I have put almost a stone on and now weigh 15st. As I am 5fts 10 this makes me considerably over weight. Please can a health expert give me some tips and a schedule to stick to at the gym to help me get fit and lose the extra pounds. I can’t run as yet as my ligaments are too weak to carry my weight because of an RTA years ago. I will be able to though if I lost a few stone and then strengthened them. The gym I am a member of has all the facilities, pool, stair machine, cross trainer, tred mill, free weights, you name it it’s got it. I just need to know what to use, for how long and how often. I could go to the gym everyday either for an hour in the morning before work or after 9pm. All help is greatly appreciated
What home gym machine would you recommend to a 270 lb 5 ft 9 in person who wants to get in shape? I live in an apartment and have limited space, and will be moving around for the next few years so compactablity would be nice. I also have a one year old, so safety needs to be considered (no exposed stuff that little fingers can get caught in, etc.). I'm currently looking at the Gold's Gym Cross Trainer 600 Treadmill because the weight limit is over 300 lbs.
does anyone know whats best to use at the gym to tone you stomach up and loose weight? As in a bike or cross trainer or rowing machine or running machine or anything that will help me out.
Which home fitness machine gives the best overall workout? I've realised I don't have room for a treadmill which was my first choice, so I'm looking for something a bit more compact like a cross trainer or an exercise bike. Would like to increase aerobic fitness mainly, but also tone up and become leaner and fitter. I'm not overweight (5'4" and weigh 49kg) and fairly active (fast walk about 4-5 miles a day). What do you think would be best?
Can anyone give me a fitness plan to follow plz? I have just joined a gym but dont know exactly how much to do and stuff. I am on a diet too , i want to loose 4 or 5 stone and tone up too. It has all the basic equipment, treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine, upright bike, sitty back bike (dont know its proper name lol!) Stepper, Then various weight machines and free weights and a sit up frame thingy. I wanna go 3-4 times a week and maybe go to a class too. Thanks Darlingxxxx
How to get more toned? I'm an 18 year old girl, 5'7"m and i weigh 119lbs. I joined the gym two months ago to lose a bit of excess weight and become more toned i.e. get some definition (but not full-blown abs) i dont want to be too muscular. But it's not helping! I do weights, treadmill, bikes, stair machine, cross trainer etc. If i start doing heaps of sit-ups and push-ups will i get more toned? I'm stuck in a bit of a rut at the moment, just looking for some advice.
Increasing stamina on the running machines? I am 19/male. I go to the gym regularly. I find that if I run fast on the running machines (or cross trainers) I will feel exhaused by 3 minutes. Do I just need practice or run slower or what? I run out of breath really fast. I try to make my workout intense and ofcourse it ends up being an extremely short time.
How much weight will I lose on this exercise plan? I weigh 200lbs and want to get fit rather than alter my eating habits (I do enjoy my food but don't hugely overeat - I have a medical condition which makes it hard to lose weight). How many calories would I burn and how much weight would I lose per week if I did the following every day: 25 mins rowing machine 25 mins cross trainer/eliptical 10 mins lateral thigh trainer Many thanks. How long will it take befre I notice a change in my body shape?
hiring a exercise machine..which ones best 4 me? I am nearly 50 and have knee problems, I want to lose 10 kgs fast, along with a decent diet which sort of excercise machine would be best for me? i started going to gym today and i'm not sure how long i should wait between visits. Advice? I have had advice from the doc to go and do some cardiovascular exercise. I went for the first time today. I did the rowing machine, the bike. the running machine and the cross trainer. My muscles feel sore as i thought they would, Only now i don't know how long to leave it until i go again. i'm really motivated and would like to go tomorrow but i don't know if its too soon. So what do u think/advise?
Feet getting numb on elliptical trainer? Everytime I use an exercise machine that my feet are in the same place (like the elliptical, cross trainer, stairmaster, etc) my feet get numb after about 20 minutes on this. It just feels like they fall asleep. When I get off, feeling returns. Why does this happen? How can I prevent it from happening?
What's the best exercise machine to go on? I love going on the cross trainers, I've been told they work on youur whole body?
What's better: walking on treadmill or gazelle? What's better? Tony Little's gazelle machine is a cross-trainer, an elliptical trainer...or the old treadmill? Maybe I should mix it up so it doesn't get boring....
Will a stepper machine make my leg muscles bigger? I naturally have well built legs (more fat these days!) If i buy a stepper will my legs get 'bigger' instead of toned?.... I'm also considering buying a cross trainer, i can't decide between the two.... I find the cross trainer at the gym more fun and can go for miles, it doesn't get me as breathless as the stepper but cos of this i don't think it's burning the fat the same... Any advice welcome!...Thanks
I have just signed up to the gym after beign fairly inactive... can you tell me...? which cardio machines work which part of the body and how long i should aim to use them for weight loss? I plan to use the rowing machine, cross trainer and treadmill at first...

If when i go to the gym on these 3 occasions per week and do: 20 mins on the bike 20 mins jogging on the treadmill 20 mins cross trainer 10 mins rowing machine 30 mins weight is this enough???? or should i go more often?

I have pain "down there" when I walk! Its hard to describe, no I am not pregnant- could it be a pulled muscle? I have felt this feeling before but it goes away in an instance- this past month I have been working out on a regular basis (3-4 times a week) and I dont ever stretch. I go to the gym and use the cross trainer machine, then do some ab crunches and then some machines for my arms. What I am feeling doesnt really hurt, its just uncomfortable and I really only feel it when I walk/move. Its also hard to describe where its located, but its like near my bladder where my lips begin i guess. I dont feel any bumps or anything. Some people are saying it could be a pulled muscle, but im not sure. Im kind of worried about it so I have an appointment at the doctor this afternoon, but im just wondering if anyone kind of knows what im talking about, or if they have had something similar to this. hopefully it will ease my mind...thank you!
I'm 31 years old, 6 foot and around 210 pounds. I recently started going to the gym.? I work out everyday, doing 30 mins aerobic exercise (bike, cross trainer, rowing machine) followed by 40 mins weightlifting. How soon can I expect to see some results?

What exercise machine was I on? I was at SpaLady this morning and was on a machine and now I cannot remember what it was for the life of me. It was kinda a mix between an elliptical and a cross trainer. Your hands don't move like they do on the elliptical though, they just stay staionary. Your movements are a mix between skiing and climbing steps and it works your butt and the front part of your thighs. Any idea what it is called??? http://www.rccsd.org/communitycenter/Fitness2blur.JPG What machine is the boy in the dark shirt on??? No, it's not the Arc Machine http://www.burnsfitness.com/images/swansea-gym/swansea-gym-1.jpg This one is it!!

I want to loose at least 2 stone as fast as possible, help? Hey. I'm a 13 year old girl (very mature looking and acting for my age) and weight about 11 1/2 stone. I'm 5"6 and am a UK size 12. I am 'chubby'. I have really low self esteem and am sick of being this way. I want to loose about 2 stone (if possible more) as soon as possible. My ideal weight would be just under 9 stone. My parents have an excercise machine (cross trainer thing/ skiiing/ treadmillish?). I ran 10 miles on that every day for a week a few months back before getting sick and quitting. I need lost of help guys, please don't tell me about health risks and putting the weight back on and how i'm too young. Trust me i know exactly what i'm doing. I plan to drink alot more waterr also. How much should i exersize daily? How many calories should i try to take in? JUST GENERAL HELP PLEASE? p.s. i eat just as much and the same quantities as all my friends who are skinny, i also excersise the same. its really unfairrr.
Name of "swingy" exercise machine? Just wondering the name of the exercise machine that is really quite similar to a cross-trainer, except that the foot treads swing back and forth? I think I saw it on Kath n Kim once :) Thanks Yes, the handles move also. I think it the foot pedals are more of a swing though than an elliptical, maybe? That is almost it!! It's like a cross between a gazelle and an elliptical As in the feet do move back and forth but the top half and the general structure of the machine looks more 'elliptically'.

Questions about gyms and workout? Right... at Bannatynes they have built in TV's (by technogym or summit) on the running machines, cross trainers, etc. On the side they have a USB socket, s video in socket, and the red/yellow/white sockets. I was wondering, can I get a wire for my iPod Video and plug it into one of these connections and watch my videos on the built in TV's. Also.. about the workout side of gyms. I heard that your body is still working out and burning calories after you have finished for a certain amount of time. How much time? And... say I wanted to burn 200 cals for example. You could run fast for 30min and burn that. But you can also run/jog/walk for an hour and half and burn the same amount. Is it the same thing. Or is one better than the other? Thanks.
I'm currently taking Zhen de Shou to tame my appetite. I am in good shape with an appetite of a Gorilla.? I also exercise regularly since I was in highschool and have always been active. I do a lot of cardio , average of 1 hour to 1.5 hours non stop on the eliptical machine (cross trainer), plus I do weights. But my friends are teasing me due to my enormous appetite. I have always enjoyed good food all my life. I'm worried hearing that Zhen de Shou contains amphetamines. Is this true? Can somebody verify this scientifically? Thanks for your help.
is this enough? go to the gym three times a week, first i am 27yrs old, 5ft4 and 90lbs, my workout invloves, treadmill for 60 minutes, (16.1km) around 15.5pkm average speed, then 7minutes rowing machine, 5mintues cross trainers, light weights 3sets of 15 reps to tone, and 3-30 crunches on gym ball.. my goal is to get a flatter tummy, and doing all this allows me to eat and hopefully gain weight without feeling guilty, so how many calories do you think this is! shall i keep it up will it help me get a flat tummy, my diet is good...... and i tend to use the treadmill alot as I can only stay at the gym for 2hrs, and I find that the most effective for calorie burn and I can push myself further than the cross trainer or treamill, is that ok .....thanks
how many calories did i burn? is my pedometer right? I bought a pedometer and wore it to the gym. My session included 13km run at 14kmph, 10minutes rowing machine, then 5minutes cross trainer, and 10minutes weight! on return home I checked the readings and it said I had done over 1100 steps but to my disappointment only burnt 190kcal is that right ?as the machines gave a much higher reading!
